I'd like to make some suggestions for some more reasons to make English our official language:
1. English is the most efficient language
2. English is used all over the world for aircraft communications.
3. English is the langauge of international communication.
4. English is the primary language of many nations besides the United States, such as Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, ...
5. The English language, because throughout many centuries it has absorbed parts of the languages of so many other cultures, (and continues to do so) is a very rich language that lends itself to many shades of expression and degrees of precision.

I was very disturbed recently to find out about the elementary school that my son will go to next year. I now have to pursue changing him to the "English Speaking" school. At Georgia Brown Elementary school (a public school) in Paso Robles, California, they teach kindergarten through second grade all in Spanish. There is only 45 minutes per day in English. Then from third grade to fifth grade they increase the English but it never exceeds 50%. This was very upsetting to discover and we couldn't believe they could do this legally. It is our tax dollars and now we have to transfer to a different school if we want our child to be taught in English.

OK, your last letter confirms what I've feared: You are unreconstructed Republicans.

The way you write makes me wonder if you are all Democrats.
