Thank you for your letter advising of the vote FOR English in Maryland. I don't know what has gotten into the Democrats in this country but at 73 I am beginning to have serious doubts about them.

Thank you for your perseverance. I want my grandchildren to have a country that has its own identity and language. People used to come to this country because they wanted to be U.S. citizens.

Congratulations on taking the offensive approach instead of the defensive as all the others are using on the English language political issue.

Please continue to promote vigorously the Amendment effort. I am convinced that it is the best way to oppose all the clamor for official multilingualism, and the proper way to establish English as the official language of the United States. I am also convinced that your Amendment approach will quickly gather enough support from dedicated Americans to persuade the Congress to start the action prescribed in Article V and that more than three-fourths of the State Legislatures will adopt your proposed ENGLISH LANGUAGE AMENDMENT.

From now on, I will completely ignore all the letters I receive requesting defensive support of defensive measures for this very crucial matter.

Most sincerely, and Hang in There!!

This issue is critical in Southern California and in Los Angeles where children of over 100 different language backgrounds reside and are in the school system. I understand that those children, where no teacher for their İnativeŞ language can be found, so they must be taught in English, do far better in school.
